Share
On January 30, 2025, deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect driver continued driving and a pursuit ensued.
Near the intersection of Northwest 72nd Street and Northwest 1st Avenue, the suspect driver intentionally struck the K9 squad that K9 Roxi was in. The squad crashed into a concrete wall.
K9 Roxi was transported to an emergency veterinarian hospital where she passed away two days later on February 1, 2025.
The suspect driver was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, causing injury, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of THC and resisting an officer with violence.
K9 Roxi had served with the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office for over seven months. K9 Roxi wasn't just a dog....she was a deputy, a partner, a hero. She deserved much more. Our condolences for her K9 handler, her partners, and the community of Miami-Dade.
